In 2006, all our eyes were fixed on the TV screen, anxiously waiting for the drama to unfold on this pyramid of black rock. By May 19, three Filipinos have stood on top of the highest mountain in the world, providing the spark for the Pinoy outdoor community to dream big again.

Romi invited us last night to celebrate this milestone at our usual hang-out in BGC (actually, it might just be an excuse to go out drinking).

Not much reminiscing was done on the events ten years ago, but interesting ideas for new adventures were put on the table. At one point, there was some talk on trekking to the south pole! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what will pan out. Right now, my focus is trying to get back in decent shape for an upcoming trip.
Happy anniversary again to Romi, Leo, Pastor, and the rest of the hardcore guys who made planting the Philippine flag on the highest mountain possible.
