[#AmaDablamTour, Day 6] Hike to Khumjung

Namche Bazaar - We're back from our acclimatization hike up to Khumjung through the Everest View Hotel. Luck did not bring us snow,  but it was still a beautiful morning, with only a spattering of clouds around the peaks.

The hike to Everest View Hotel took about two hours, spent mostly huffing and puffing up the ridge to Syangboche. Ama Dablam's peak apeared, soon the scene opened to the entire vista of the Khumbu mountains. I was more interested in studying the ridge and summit route of Ama Dablam than looking at the mighty Chomolungma (Mt. Everest). Every vertical meter is intimidating.

Our goal
The view was enough. Let's go home!
Khumjung, like most of the towns here, has its share of damage from the May earthquake. The Khumjung/Hillary school buildings and the nearby chorten had cracks, and ruble was still everywhere. But reconstruction is ongoing, and we hope the village can rebuild soon.

It was a speedy descent for me. I may have eaten something bad in the past 24 hours. My stomach is a vortex of gas and other noxious things. I had to get back to the lodge quickly. I must be more careful with what I eat or I will be in trouble.

Tomorrow, Krista and Adrian (journalists from Rappler assigned to cover Romi) will be heading back to Lukla then Kathmandu, so we decided to have a small despedida for them. We'll also celebrate Marie and Elaine's birthday. A small amount of booze might be involved, but not too much. We still have a long way to go, and AMS is the last thing we want to have.

Tomorrow, the long slog to Tengboche.
