I Hate Sports Fiesta

Since becoming this year's officers, we've been thinking of different themes and gimmicks to spice up the monthly UPM general meeting. Last month, we had the Kalawang Chef cooking challenge. Now we have the I Hate Sports Fiesta, in the spirit of the local festivals that usually happen in May, complete with the banderitas.

In keeping with the theme, the games played are those typically found in the recesses of your childhood memories; back when kids were almost always outside their homes and playing with other kids.

And so these grown ups--with their kids watching with curiosity--competed in team competitions like "caterpillar", tug-of-war, agawan base, pukpok-palayok, and the ever-popular "beer drinking relay". Everyone was game and eager to join in. People were soon rolling and tossing, getting bruised, but having the best time.

The recent batches pulled all the stops in the dishes they served. It was as if we were in an actual fiesta in some barrio outside of town. We even had lechon! That rarely happens, even with UPM.

We're just in our second month, and the bar has been set up this high already. I wonder how we can top this off next time? That's a challenge we're willing to take on, as long as the people will come.
